Alien Hearts Art Project
If we ever meet a world that doesn’t speak our language, we’ll show them our hearts instead.

🚨 TRANSMISSION RECEIVED 🚨
The aliens have landed at the AIA Carnival! But there’s a cosmic problem, their hearts were lost somewhere in the galaxy. Your mission: Become a Heart Translator and design a heart for our new friends. Use colour, pattern, and pure imagination to bring their feelings to life. There are no wrong answers, but you’re not drawing biology, you’re drawing emotions from another world!
Meet Our Artists / Heart Translators

About the Art
It is said that cats are a universal language. Regardless of your skin color, cats can make everyone smile. This theme revolves around the universe and cats, with the hope that the energy of cats can make the world gentler. Whenever people see a cat, they are inclined to pause and bring peace and tranquility to this world.

About the Art
In this piece, the alien's heart is accentuated by a neon Chinese seal stamp inscribed with the phrase 身居局中 心在局外, suggesting that while physically present in a situation, its heart and mind can transcend it. Question marks, intricately arranged into heart shapes on its head alongside an infinity symbol, evoke themes of curiosity and limitless possibilities. This motif recurs in the alien's stomach and eye, emphasizing the interconnectedness of heart, brain, and gut while inviting viewers to ponder the endless possibilities that lie beyond immediate confines.

About the Art
"Embracing the Unknown” This piece captures the heart of the alien as a sanctuary for the inner child, illustrating a universal truth: no matter how different we may appear, there is always a safe space within us. Through vibrant colors and playful imagery, this artwork encourages viewers to connect with their own vulnerabilities and joys. Let this whimsical alien remind you to embrace your inner child and dance joyfully in your own universe!

About the Art
“Heart on the Right!” Introducing "Heart on the Right!" Why? Because love isn’t always left on the shelf! This whimsical piece takes you on an alien's journey through affection. With a splash of blue, red, and yellow inspired by puff skirts that pop open like umbrellas, it’s a joyful spectacle! The heart shape playfully hides the Chinese character for "heart," reminding us that love should be as open as an alien’s mind. And let’s face it—who wants a heart in the usual spot? Even an alien is quirky! Love knows no bounds, even if it’s hilariously off-center!

About the Art
Bamboo Boom When this alien landed on earth the cutest, chicest, cuddliest animal captured his cosmic heart! It was a match made in harmony. @thelittlesketchstudio

About the Art
To open the heart of a being unlike ourselves is to embark on a journey into the unknown. This alien, with its heart at the center of its head, serves as a portal to a new world—an invitation to delve into realms that lie beyond our understanding. Just as the carnival pulls us into a vibrant world, this piece invites reflection on how we perceive and empathize with others, transcending boundaries through time and space.

About the Art
In response to the theme ‘Heart Translators,’ I envisioned an alien heart wired with circuits that converts happiness into energy, powering its rhythmic beats. By blending a familiar heart silhouette with pixelated circuits and a joyful smiley face, I created a heart radically different from the human one. This contrast evokes empathy for the unfamiliar while celebrating diversity, highlighting how beings with entirely different ‘hearts’ can still share universal emotions like joy. @hoy0120

About the Art
To be human is to crave connection. We romanticise and humanise the idea of extraterrestrial life, for the little hope that there would something else we can feel close to. Perhaps they too imagine us: small, tender creatures lodged in their chests, lonely yet enveloped in yearning and love, pointing towards the truth that we are, after all, never alone in our desperation to be found. @nightlittlefox

About the Art
In the mind of an alien, a group of small skeletons are dancing, celebrating joyfully. Their different colors represent the uniqueness of each individual. Yet, they also hold hands, moving forward and backward together.

About the Art
My heart is filled with my loved ones. A sunrise. Sunsets. Fields of flowers. A reminder. To always be kind. ? And while I am still learning and growing in this journey of life, i will always be searching for the next thing that makes my heart full.

About the Art
CIAO! I’m from a planet far, far away. Thanks for reaching my heart. To me, the heart isn’t an organ—it’s a tide of energy: faith, love, and peace circulating within. I expand that heart through my whole body—cosmic energy moving, growing. ♥ When you touch me, you’re not touching a shell, but a whole body become one heart. Hold my left arm, and feel my love for you.

About the Art
Whenever I encounter a blank canvas—the bald head in particular—I am reminded of my nonprofit initiative in Pakistan. Through henna patterns, I aim to empower children undergoing chemotherapy who have lost their hair, helping them feel beautiful, resilient, and celebrated. Henna is a cultural adornment that signifies joy and celebration. When applied to the body, it functions as a wearable form of jewelry, transforming ordinary into extraordinary. In this project, the alien is crowned with a bejeweled henna crown and adorned with lungs that also serve as jewelry. These elements are designed to elevate the alien’s presence, turning vulnerability into beauty and making the alien feel cherished and special. The work marries cultural symbolism with speculative imagination, inviting viewers to consider adornment, identity, and resilience across species and circumstance.
